Sweet Wormwood is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant that has become known in recent times as a promising antimalaria drug. The Latin name Artemisia Annua already refers to the fact that the plant grows annual. It can be found as a weed in the wilderness in China but also other temperate regions, including Europe and North America. Its Chinese name Qing Hao refers to the dark green leaves of the plant, which is also the part with most active ingredients. The taste is very bitter. The leaves exude an aromatic scent.
