We’ve picked out 7 perfect beginner varieties from our range of heirloom vegetables that will grow pretty much by themselves and produce fantastic crops in the same year they’re planted. These vegetable varieties will grow in your garden, in raised beds, and also in large pots on a balcony or patio. The seeds just need to be planted at the right time – and within a few days you’ll see the tiny seedlings starting to appear.

This seed kit contains organic seeds for the following beginner vegetable varieties:

Radish 'French Breakfast' (Organic) (Raphanus sativus) An old French variety with attractive, elongated red radishes with white tips.
Colourful Swiss Chard 'Five Colours' (Organic) (Beta vulgaris) One of the most beautiful of all Swiss Chard varieties – the vibrant colours are a highlight in the vegetable plot and in the kitchen.
Romaine Lettuce 'Forellenschluss' (Organic) (Lactuca sativa) An old Romaine lettuce variety – aromatic, crispy leaves with red markings.
Bush Bean 'Cupidon' (Organic) (Phaseolus vulgaris) Filet bean with a fine, aromatic flavour and extended harvesting period.
Purple Snap Pea 'Blauwschokker' (Organic) (Pisum sativum) Early, purple-flowered pea with violet-blue pods.
Beetroot 'Tonda di Chioggia' (Organic) (Beta vulgaris) "Tonda di Chioggia" is an old Italian variety with red-and-white ringed roots.
Zucchini 'Zuboda' (Organic) (Cucurbita pepo) Non-trailing variety which produces its first firm, green courgettes just six weeks after planting
