Beautiful perennial that flowers continuously from June through into autumn – for natural gardens, rock gardens and all kinds of flower garden. This herbaceous perennial is often not very long-lived but can generally be relied on to seed itself. The flower stems are extremely attractive, the pale violet petals presenting an elegant contrast to the darker flower centres, all in beautiful harmony with the grey-green foliage. Cupid’s Dart is also known as Love Plant, and its Latin name derives from the Greek word for love potion, reflecting how it was used in ancient times. The flowers work extremely well as cut flowers and dried flowers. Good partner plants for a flower bed are Hyssop, Lavender Cotton, Lamb’s Ear, Bearded Iris and Eryngium varieties as well as Black-Eyed Susan, Dyer’s Chamomile and Carthusian Pink.
