The Calico Flower (also Aristolochia elegans) has curiously-looking blossoms, indeed. Therefore, it's not surprising where the name comes from when you suddenly come across this plant in the jungle and are frightened at it. Its blossoms appear surreal and magically attracting at once.

The fast-growing vine originates from the Brazilian rainforest but can be cultivated and hibernated here without any problems.

Its blossoms still have another feature as they are "boiler trap" blossoms. By their scent, they attract insects that crawl into the innards of the blossom and only come out after they've completely covered themselves in pollen.

Perennial tropical climber for partial shade. Not hardy. The plant can be hibernated frost-free indoors. Pre-cultivation possible all year round indoors at a minimum of +25°C. After sowing, keep continuously moist until the first seedlings appear. We recommend the use of a propagator with a heating function.
