The Cantaloupe Melon has presumably already been cultivated approx. 5000 years ago in the region of today’s Iran. From there, it spread over the Mediterranean region. In antique Rome, it was a popular type of fruit. ‘Charentais’ is a smooth-skinned variety which is cultivated especially in France.
