The Carthusian pink is a perennial herbaceous plant which is ideal for alpine gardens and rockeries. It has gained its common name because it was not only a popular nectar plant and day-flower for the peasant garden, but also a monastery garden plant, which was cultivated by the carthusian monks.

It grows with rather low wuth a maximum of 40cm and flowers in pinkish-red from June to September. The flowers and exude a pleasant, very characteristic carnation fragrance.

Winter hardy perennial. Direct outdoor sowing from spring, only lightly press seeds into the soil, do not cover - they need light to germinate. It grows best on dry, permeable and nutrient-poor soils in full sun and warm conditions.
