Chinese broccoli is a leaf vegetable with thick, flat, leaves and thick stems with flower heads smaller than "normal" broccoli. Its flavor is stronger than broccoli and slightly more bitter. Gai lan is widely used in Chinese Vietnamese and Thai cuisine, boiled steamed or stir-fried.
