The longer I maintain my own garden, the more the annual summer flowers grow on my heart - everywhere they enchant the beds with their very special bright colour highlights. They are usually very uncomplicated and easy to care for. After spring cleaning in mid/late April, I sprinkle the seeds everywhere in the beds where gaps have formed. Many of the annual flowers need light to germinate and only need to be scattered on the ground and raked lightly. With enough moisture they usually germinate very reliably within 1-3 weeks and do not need any further care from then until flowering.
