Cool Flowers: Annual flowers for a head start in spring

Cool Flowers are annual flowers that have developed a special strategy to flower early in the year.
They’re sown in late summer or early autumn, so that they can develop into strong young plants by the time winter arrives. These plants are tremendously resilient and generally survive through the winter without any problem. When temperatures start to rise in spring they use their head start to flower much earlier than other annuals.

Cool Flowers are not just a feast for the eye – they also play an important role in sustainable gardening. By flowering early they offer pollinators like bees and butterflies a valuable food source at a time when there’s not much else in bloom.
