Cosmos originates from the area from Arizona to Mexico to Costa Rica. Today, it's very popular as an annual decorative plant all over the world. One reason for this is that it is very unproblematic in care. It tolerates many kinds of soil as long as they are permeable and it blooms, provided that it receives enough sun, very perennially. It forms scenting, white to pink blossoms. As it's not hardy, it dies back with the first frosts. However, chances are good that it has already settled in the garden after its first season and returns the next spring. The robust cosmos can also be tried as a stone garden plant.
