Both tubers and leaves of this plant are edible. Once commonly cultivated in central Europe, pignut seems to have been almost forgotten today. Earth chestnut tubers are normally small (about 2 cm) and tasty. In good garden soil, the tubers can become significantly larger than those of the wild plants
