Elecampane is a perennial, sunflower-like shrub that, with up to 2 metres, reaches a considerable height. Elecampane is a true eyecatcher in the flower bed that magically attracts the glances of other gardeners as well as of bees because of its yellow blossoms. The plant begins blooming after 3 years at the earliest and, due to its size, it should be given enough space in the garden. For fumigation, the root, which brings confidence, light, and sunshine into life and which can help with depression, is suitable. Elecampane also belongs into herb bunches that are mainly collected in rural areas and are consecrated on the Assumption of Mary. Elecampane is suitable for dying. For that reason, it's mixed with urine, dried, and then ground. Furthermore, from its root, cough candy was produced as it has a mucolytic effect and contains many bitters. In the kitchen, on the contrary, it's only rarely used today.
