Fenugreek is an annual plant from the family of legumes, which is not cultivated and used as a vegetable but mainly as a spice. Especially in the Spanish and North African kitchen, it's indispensable as a dish and bread spice. It originates from Asia but can also be cultivated as an annual plant in the garden without any problems in Central Europe. Ground to powder, the hearty seeds of fenugreek are an essential part of various curry mixtures but can else also be used versatilely, for example in goat cheese processings. The spicy leaves can be used in the kitchen, as well. Also as a medicinal plant, it's incredibly versatile. Not only the prophet Mohammed is said to have appreciated its curative effect but also Kneipp was very convinced of it. Recent research has shown that, out of the plant, a promising curative for Parkinson's can be made.
