Grass Seeds

At first, grasses seem a rather nondescript group of plants, particularly as they seem to produce uniform, long and narrow leaves and plain, inconspicuous flowers. From a botanical point of view, grasses belong to the order of sweetgrass plants called poales, which is sub-divided into two groups: sweet-, true grasses or gramineae (Poaceae) and sedges (Cyperaceae).

Amazingly grasses belong to the oldest agricultural crops of all mankind. All wheat varieties originate from the group of grasses and have been the source of food for people and animals alike for centuries. We now also use grasses for building houses and thatching roofs and as biomass, it plays an important role in generating alternative energy.
