Seeds for the world's hottest chillies

When discussing ‘the hottest chillies in the world’ one will, without a doubt, come across the Scoville Heat Scale, which was developed by chemist Wilbur Lincoln Scoville in 1912, who measured the degrees of heat in the different chilli species
Arguably, his method was not very accurate and has since been replaced by alternative methods but we often still find chillies classified in Scoville Heat Units (SHUs). The scale ranges from 0 up till 16million SHUs, which would be a grade that lies not only beyond our imagination but would also be totally uneatable.
Currently the hottest chilli pepper is the Capsicum Chinese-Hybrid Carolina Reaper, which won the Guinness record in 2013 and averages between 1,5 – 2.2 million SHUs. We also offer the previous winners in our shop, however, it has to be pointed out that the climatic conditions need careful replication for the chillies to develop their heat.
