This interesting fig cactus is completely hardy down to -20°C here if it's protected from wetness! You can plant it on the house wall, for example, where it's relatively dry and sheltered from the rain. Not only the cactus pears but also the young "ears" (Nopalitos) are edible as a delicious vegetable and can be grilled or prepared like beans.
