The Chinese Leaf Mustard (Brassica juncea var. rugosa), a subvariety of Indian Mustard, is a rewarding plant for the vegetable bed. After a few weeks, the hot leaves can already be harvested and consumed fresh or prepared in the wok.

The taste is reminiscent of mustard with a cress-like tanginess. For a longer harvest period, the blossom roots should be broken away and you should make sure not to harm the cabbage heart.

Leaf mustard loves nutritious soils. Outdoor planting between March and July ideally in rows with a 30cm distance. Sowing depth 0.5cm. The seeds germinate after about 1 week.
After approx. 6 weeks, the leaves can be harvested. They are cut near-ground and then, the plant will sprout again so that it can be harvested regularly until autumn. The plant begins with the formation of blossoms at approx. +25°C.
