Lemon Basil (Ocimum americanum var. citriodorum), which stems from South East Asia and Australia, has a markedly noble lemon flavour with slight camphor, cinnamon, and lavender touch. It's perfectly suitable for sweet dishes and for garnishing desserts. But also as a spice for salads, for herbal sauces, or delicious pesto, it's well usable. The large leaves grow on the near-ground end of the thick stalk while the upper part enormously shoots up later in the season and bears plenty of white or lavender-coloured blossoms. Therefore, it's also a good decorative and honey plant.
