With increasing industrialisation, many valuable and super-delicious varieties were sidelined and pretty much forgotten – perhaps because of their relatively low yields, or cultivation requirements that were too complex for mechanised agriculture. Completely disregarding the fact that these plants might have other qualities to offer – amazing flavours, for example!

When choosing seeds for our range there’s one thing we won’t ever compromise on – we only ever sell seeds that are open-pollinated. In recent years we’ve also started shifting our focus to organic seeds. Every year certified organic producers are bringing all kinds of amazing new seeds to the market – but it’s still by no means possible to source organic seeds for all plants, which is why we still offer seeds produced by conventional growing methods, too.
Of course we’re also working to source seeds produced by local growers. The best results always come from growing seeds already adapted to your local conditions. At the same time, though, we wouldn’t want to do without those special plants from far-flung places that show the plant world in all its glorious diversity.
