New Zealand Spinach is a mild spinach plant that was originally at home on the coasts of New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania. It is a perennial plant that can be cultivated only as an annual plant in temperate climates, because it is sensitive to frost. The plant initially needs a little time to grow properly, but once it starts branching out, is will grow vigorously and almost ground covering like a carpet. The triangular, fleshy leaves can be harvested continuously and taste a little stronger than conventional spinach.
