The parsnip variety ‘half-length’, also called 'Halblange', is extremely productive. It forms approx. 20-30cm long, thick and tapered, cream-coloured roots. Parsnip is a very versatile vegetable and belonged to the staple foods in Europe from the age of the Roman empire up to the 18th century. Since then, competition has picked up with potatoes and carrots but parsnip still remains popular in many countries. The sowing is very uncomplicated. The white roots have a pleasantly spicy taste and are excellently storable.
