This French pumpkin variety has flat, plate-shaped, white fruits that can be used like zucchini. Harvested as a summer squash while young, Patisson Blanc pumpkins don't have to be peeled and have a very fine lemon taste. If you let them mature longer, they are still edible but get hard skin and the pulp also becomes firm. A fully ripened, white Patisson, therefore, is most often used as an ornamental pumpkin. Because of its characteristic colour and flat, wart-free surface, the variety 'Custard White' is also known as UFO pumpkin.
