Perique is a rare heirloom tobacco variety from Louisiana. Traditionally the leaves are strongly flavored, fermented and mixed with other tobaccos.

It is a red burley tobacco, which is very strong and has a slightly charred flavour.

This tobacco was first cultivated over 400 years ago by the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians.
