This basil variety convinces by its unusual looks. The dark purple leaves are very decorative in the flower pot as well as on the plate. The aromatic variety is best suitable for pot or bucket cultivation and there is a beautiful contrast with other, green-leaved herb classics. Many recipes of the Mediterranean kitchen need basil and it should also not be underestimated as a medicinal herb. The absolute summer classic is Caprese salad, mozzarella and tomatoes with fresh basil, of course. The herb has a beneficial effect on digestion, is appetising, stomachic, anticonvulsant, and calming. Today, basil tea is still drunk with indigestion, stomach cramps, or flatulence. This herb should only be used fresh and unboiled as the fine flavour of the herb is destroyed when heated. Therefore, add it directly before consumption or serve it with cold dishes.
