Apart from Coffea Arabica, Coffea Canephora is the commercially most important coffee variety. Out of it, Robusta Coffee is gained. The seeds of Coffea Canephora are very rich in caffeine. They contain up to 4% of the stimulating substance. In comparison, Arabica Coffee only contains 1-2%. Robusta Coffee plants are - like the name already tells - extraordinarily resistant and are often cultivated in West Africa and East Asia. In the Mediterranean countries, coffee mixtures with an amount of Robusta are very popular. Many Espresso lovers think that the caffeine-rich Robusta bean gives the coffee the right spice.
