This variety was cultivated by the Amish People in the USA in the 18th century and is a traditional variety in America. The Romaine Lettuce 'Rehzunge' grows very compact with star-shaped, huddled leaves. It doesn't form a head but grows similar to spinach. Its taste is strong and aromatic. Due to the compact growth, it's also well suited for smaller gardens.
