Scented plants
The sense of smell is particularly addressed by fragrant plants in a beautiful garden. Many plants give off wonderful fragrances and allow you to experience a garden in a very special way. Of course, the scent of roses immediately comes to mind, but the aromas of plants are various and beguiling.
Lavender, jasmine and violet have a flowery note. The scents of mint, lemon balm, thyme and basil are rather dry and fresh. Basically, it's either the flowers which exude the smell - or the leaves free their fragrance when touched. Sometimes, of course, bark and roots have a very distinct smell too, their smell being carried mostly by resinous, oily substances.
