Shamanism has a very close relationship with plants and herbs and with nature in general, seeking to bring humans – holistically, with body, mind and soul – into harmony with the cosmos. This happens with the help of a shaman who is able to move between this world and the world beyond, healing disease and communicating with ‘spirit beings’. This method shouldn’t be undertaken frivolously or without appropriate preparation. It calls for an in-depth knowledge of plants and their effects as well as careful supervision by experienced shamans.
