Shamanic plant seeds
Shamanism has a very close relationship with plants and herbs and with nature in general, seeking to bring humans – holistically, with body, mind and soul – into harmony with the cosmos. This happens with the help of a shaman who is able to move between this world and the world beyond, healing disease and communicating with ‘spirit beings’. Shamanic acts and rituals very often require special shamanic healing herbs and medicinal plants – the seeds of which we have grouped together here.

In many shamanic traditions certain plants are viewed as holy and used for their healing properties. These plants often contain psychoactive substances that can induce altered states of consciousness and a deeper connection with the spirit world.
A famous example of such plant-based healing is Ayahuasca. This plant drink is used by shamans to induce spiritual experiences and promote personal spiritual growth.
Shamanism uses medicinal plants not just for spiritual growth but also for healing the body and soul. Shamans believe that illnesses often have a spiritual cause and can be healed through contact with the spirit world. Medicinal plants are used as intermediaries to ask the spirit world for help and to bring healing.
It is important to note that in most cultures the shamanist use of medicinal plants is a deeply rooted tradition, carried out by shamans with many years of training and experience behind them. This method shouldn’t be undertaken frivolously or without appropriate preparation. It calls for an in-depth knowledge of plants and their effects as well as careful supervision by experienced shamans.
