The white-spotted Snake gourd reaches over 1m and is a widespread vegetable for cooking in India and an old Ayurvedic remedy. It's very decorative and grows straight or twisted hanging on a climbing trellis - especially the beautiful white blossoms that slightly remind of passionflowers make this tropical cucumber a visual highlight in the vegetable bed or greenhouse. The preparation of the long and really snake-shaped fruits is similar to the one of the eggplant. Snake gourds are harvested young.
