The Spanish Sage is a small-leaved, highly aromatic sage variety native to the Mediterranean, more specifically to South France, Spain, and Northwest Africa. It is often found growing on stony ground there, which he populates together with lavender or rosemary. It has more in common with these two plants than just its preferred location: Its pale purple blossoms remind of lavender, while the essential oils of its leaves exude a rosemary flavour when they are rubbed. The leaves of the Spanish Sage are, therefore, perfectly suitable for seasoning pasta and, in dried form, as an incense herb. In addition, the consumption of the plant is said to improve memory functions.
