Syrian Oregano is a robust variety from West Asia with high growth, hairy leaves, and spike-shaped, deeply white blossoms. In the Middle East, it's used for cooking because of its strong, aromatic flavour and it's an ingredient of the herb mixture called 'Za'atar'. Often also called Bible Hyssop or Syrian Oregano in literature, it has already been mentioned in the Bible. Syrian oregano likes full sun and is hardy down to -12°C.
