Like the name already indicates, this variety presumably stems from Germany. Mennonites from Virginia have cultivated it again in the USA, whereas it has become extinct in Germany. The Old German is quite in need of warmth - under good conditions, it develops wonderfully aromatic, sweet, juicy fruits. Size and form can be very different, 200-300 grams per fruit are normal. However, single fruits can reach over 600 grams. On the outside, the tomatoes are pale yellow and orange. The inside is golden yellow and pink marbled. The plants are very robust and only little susceptible to diseases. The plants reach up to 1.80 m in height.
