White Henbane is rare Mediterranean henbane with beautiful light flowers and a long and exciting history. In ancient times it was used for divination purposes, perhaps even in the Greek oracle cult. In the Middle Ages, it was part of magic potions and intoxicating beers. Some ethnologists assume that Pilsener (beer) owes its name to henbane. The history of surgery would have been different without this plant. The narcotic henbane oil was often used before surgeries. The white henbane originates from the Mediterranean region. It germinates easier than its relative, black henbane. Caution: The whole plant is very poisonous and is particularly dangerous for children!
