The flavour of the wild basil is slightly harsher than the one of 'normal' basil. It surely is one of the most robust varieties and also tolerates bad weather and little sun outdoors.

The trunk of the perennial variety lignifies after a while and grows shrubby. The plant can also be hibernated in the warm, light winter garden or be kept very well in the apartment. It has an intense clove flavour that comes into its own in tea and suits as a spice.

As a cure, Ocimum Canum is especially known from homeopathy.
