Nicotiana sylvestris is an Indian variety of tobacco with wonderfully fragrant flowers. It's very popular as an ornamental plant because of its gleaming white, up to 8 cm long trumpet flowers with their beguiling scent reminiscent of petunias, which they release after sundown, attracting lots of moths. Woodland tobacco originates from the moist, humus-rich mountain forests of the eastern Andes and is considered the predecessor of most of today's cultivated tobaccos.
